Part 3 of 7: Farming Primal Shadow
Best Farming Location
The third of the seven primals that I’m going to cover will be Primal Shadow. The area that I have found to be the best is the Spirit Fields (area surrounding Oshu’gun) in the southern part of Nagrand. You will be farming the Void Spawn (level 65-66) to get Mote of Shadow (10 Mote of Shadow = 1 Primal Shadow). This is a very easy place to farm because if you just watch out for what’s going on around you, you will seldom get adds. Single pulls and fast kills all day long. One thing that’s nice about the Void Spawn vs. the other elementals you’ll spend time farming for the rest of the primals is that they drop coin and Netherweave Cloth in addition to the motes of shadow; so this is a good money making area too. The Void Spawn will be mainly roaming back and forth on the light brown paths all around Oshu’gun. You just need to pick a direction, either clockwise or counter clockwise, and start going in circles. Remember that Durn the Hungerer goes in a clockwise path around the Spirit Fields so going the opposite can be helpful in watching out for him. You’ll want to keep an eye out for the Wild Elekk (always level 66). They drop Pair of Ivory Tusks (can be mailed to alts or sold in the AH) 100% of the time that can be used for rep. with The Consortium until you’re friendly with them. There are also air elementals all around the edge of the loop that you can kill for mote of air too. Because this is such a good place to farm for primal shadow there will likely always be 1-3 other people there any time of day. Try to just stick to one of the larger spawn areas instead of going all the way around if this is the case. I would suggest the west side or the north (towards the east end). They have the largest number of Void Spawn in them and the spawn time is relatively short.

In the auction house on our server a Primal Shadow is going for 18-22 gold right now.

Post WotLK Launch Update:
In the AH on our server Primal Shadow, as with all the other Primals post launch of the WotLK expansion, have dropped drastically. Primals only seem to be needed by those who a leveling professions so the demand just isn’t there anymore. May I suggest taking a look in the AH to see what kind of deals you can find before spending your time farming. Odds are you’ll come out ahead in the long run.

I’ve gotten a lot from the Voidshriekers and Unstable Voidwraiths at Manaforge Ultris in Netherstorm. It seems to be a good area if you have it to yourself. There’s not enough of them if someone else is there too, but they do spawn fairly fast.
