Midsummer Fire Festival Posted in Helpful-In-Game-Info, Character-Development
The Midsummer Fire Festival is here again. The Festival runs from June 21 – July 4, and has several new events/quests.
This year the Burning Blossoms are not only used to receive a useful buff when tossed into your faction’s fire, you can also use them to reignite fires that have been extinguished by enemy players. The Burning Blossoms are also used as currency to purchase fun seasonal items from the Midsummer Suppliers and Merchants. You get the Burning Blossoms by completing the quests and daily quests.

Dancing Around the Ribbon Pole is back again this year. There is a pole in each camp. You click on the top to dance around with a colored ribbon. When you dance around the pole you get a nice buff that gives you 10% bonus to experience from killing monsters. The longer you dance the longer the buff will last.
Torch Tossing is pretty easy. The quest giver will give you a torch. You click on the torch and it brings up a green target. You have to position the target over the brazier while the red mark is over it (similar to the hunter’s mark) and throw the torch. You only get credit if you hit the brazier while the target is over it (you will know because it will shoot a column of fire straight up) You must stand near the Festival Bonfire.
Torch Catching is a bit more difficult. You stand near the Festival Bonfire and click on the provided unlit torch. After you throw the torch you chase it down and try to catch it by following the small (and often hard to see) shadow on the ground. If you catch it you immediately throw it again and again (usually behind you) until you catch it the necessary number of times. If you miss, the torch blows up and you take fire damage. It does get easier after you do it a few times.
The Torch Tossing and Torch Catching become daily quests after you complete them both the first time.
The Unusual Activity quest is a short chain that sends you to The Zoram Strand in Ashenvale to investigate the Twilight Cult activity. Head to The Zoram Strand just south of Blackfathom Deeps and start killing the Twilight Cult mobs. I got the Twilight Correspondence quest item pretty quickly (the 1st kill with my shammy and the 3rd kill with my warrior) the mobs seem to be between lvl 20-23. After you get the quest item you click on the totamic becon you were provided to summon an NPC that will give you another part of the quest chain. An Innocent Disguise sends you up the beach north west of Blackfathom Deeps. Once you reach the spot where there are 3-4 Twilight mobs standing together in a semi-circle click on the orb you received to put on your crab disguise and listen to their conversation. Then use your Totamic Becon again to summon the NPC again. The last part, Inform the Elder, sends you back to any capitol city for the turn in (the same guy you picked up Unusual Activity from).
Completing this chain unlocks 2 more quests:
Striking Back, which sends to kill an enemy NPC. This is a daily quest and may send you to a different place every day, I’m not sure. The one I did sent me to kill the Glacial Templar on the Hellfire side of the Dark Portal. You summon the Glacial Templar by clicking on the Ice Stone located at 85,53 (alliance). He was a very easy kill, just be sure to clear out a few of the trash mobs before you summon.
Ahune, the Frost Lord sends you to the Slave Pens in Zangarmarsh to talk to Numa Cloudsister. Ahune is a summonable boss, similar to the Headless Horseman during the Hallow’s End celebration last fall, he is only available during the Fire Festival. Numa Cloudsister is just inside the Salve Pens instance. She gives you another quest, Ahune is Here! and tells you to search the Slave pens for the Earthen Ring Shamans and their leader Luma Skymother and help them defeat Ahune. Ahune is available on normal and heroic modes and has loot for each.
The quests are pretty easy and the amount of experience makes them worth doing, even at 69 I made a few bars. All of them award plenty of money too (more if you are 70).
