Part 6 of 7: Farming Primal Water
The sixth of the seven primals is Primal Water. There are 2 zones that I use when farming primal water; Terokkar Forest and Nagrand. The mobs you will be after are the Shimmerscale Eels and water elementals to get the Mote of Water you need (10 Mote of Water = 1 Primal Water).
Farming Locations
By far the best place to farm Primal Water is in Silmyr Lake (Loc. 39, 10; north end of the zone) in Terokkar Forest. You will be fighting under water so some sort of Elixir of Water Breathing or water breathing spell is recommended. I would also recommend crafting or buying an Azure Silk Belt which adds 15% to swim speed so you can get around the lake faster. The mobs you’re after are Shimmerscale Eels. The eels themselves are level 62-63, have only ~3400-4k HP, and do only ~100 DMG. The drop rate on Mote of Water can be as high as 50%, but is normally always a consistent 30% or better for me.
A second zone you can have success farming Primal Water in, if Silmyr Lake is camped, is Nagrand. The lakes of Nagrand (Loc. 58, 28 or 33, 51) have water elementals in them that also drop Mote of Water. The mobs are mid 60’s in level, some are frost bolt casters while some charge you, and all are immune to DMG from frost based spells and attacks. You are again fighting under water so the same recommendations as above still stand. The drop rate on Mote of Water is a bit lower and the mobs are more spread out so the killing is slower, but, seldom are there other people farming these elementals so you can usually get an entire lake to yourself.
In addition, if your fishing skill is high enough, you can fish the pools from these lakes for even more motes of water; mainly the Pure Water Pools. Motes can also come out of Bluefish and Mudfish schools as well.
Price
In the AH on our server Primal Water, as with all the other Primals post launch of the WotLK expansion, have dropped drastically. Primals only seem to be needed by those who a leveling professions so the demand just isn’t there anymore. May I suggest taking a look in the AH to see what kind of deals you can find before spending your time farming. Odds are you’ll come out ahead in the long run.

I’ve gotten all of mine from fishing. The Pure Water pools only spawn in the rivers & lakes in Nagrand, but I’ve fished up Motes of Water all over Outland.
