As the main tank for our group, I occasionally try to find things to make me better without having to play for hours and hours-which I don’t have. I’ve found a few macros and add ons that help me out that I thought I’d share. I also get a lot of tips from a couple different sites: TankSpot is a really good site and is really geared toward the hard core player, tons of information-a lot of which I don’t really understand. And TankingTips is more a fun daily tip site with some interesting tidbits.

Anyway, hope this helps some of the other casual warrior tanks out there.

Macros

Switches stances between defensive and battle stance and if control clicked, it will go to berserker stance.

/cast [modifier:ctrl,nostance:3] Berserker Stance; [stance:1] Defensive Stance; Battle Stance

Charge & intercept-puts you into the correct stance, another use and you charge/intercept. It leaves you in berserker while in combat…

Thunder Clap while in defensive stance

Incoming-I keep it right next to my shoot/throw hot key so right after I plink the mob I can push my incoming hot key to let the party know to prepare. Mine is simple but you can make it say whatever suites you.

Add Ons

TankPoints Helps decide which tanking gear is best for me. Makes decisions like is + to defense rating or + to shield block better, much easier.

Omen By far the best threat meter I’ve used so far.

The best tank gear guide I’ve found for casual players like me is Polar’s Easy Pre-Karazhan Tank Gear List. This gear list provides info for the best tanking items that can be easily obtained by the casual warrior tank. It lists things that can be purchased in the AH and the best quest rewards too.

Support your local tank

I know they’re cute and they’re fun to kill when you’re just hanging out waiting for the oomers. But level 1 kritters can serve a purpose more than relieving your boredom. As a tank, killing one of these kritters can build enough rage to redo one of my shouts or land my first devistate/saunder armor on the next mob I pull. So please, quit killing my tiny rage potions.
