Farming Motes of Shadow is the only way you can get Primal Shadow (combine 10 Mote of Shadow to get 1 Primal Shadow). Both Mote of Shadow and Primal Shadow are used by many professions in many different patterns. Primal Shadow is also a key ingredient in Primal Might.
The only options when it comes to obtaining Motes of Shadow you can either farm them yourself to avoid buying them in the AH, where they are often overpriced. Or constantly check the Auction House looking for a good deal.
